The Artist...

Hi, I'm Gem, a traditional artist from Lincoln in Lincolnshire in the UK, currently working as a published freelance writer in the games industry and as a Concept Artist at Toasted Studio. I create traditional paintings and drawings inspired by mindful moments in nature and my own wildlife photography, seeking to bring a slice of the outside world indoors. I primarily create wildlife and animal art, but have also created portraits, pet portraits, landscapes, and fantasy/lore-inspired pieces.
I enjoy using watercolours, acrylics, water-based oil paints, and mixed media techniques, with the aim of creating art that strikes a balance between real abstract and realism, celebrating the joy and escapism found in both present spaces and fantasy places. I believe in the power of art for wellbeing, enjoying sharing my creative processes and techniques with others, and have previously contributed art to the Mind charity calendar.
Check out the About section of my website for more information about my background and artistic journey, or continue below for a snapshot of just some of my paintings.

Hear what some of my customers have to say...
I first came across Gemma's work, 'Bunny Love', in the Mind 2021 calendar. From the moment I approached Gemma to enquire about her work, to the completion of my purchase, I have found Gemma to be informative and passionate, not only about her work, but also about its presentation and delivery to me.
I now own a print of 'Bunny Love', and everyone who has seen the picture has commented on how beautiful it is. I am purchasing further work from Gemma and I look forward to receiving these. I will certainly keep updated on further artwork Gemma creates.
Thank you, Gemma, for all your help and for your wonderful art.
Nicky - Colchester, Essex.
For years we had this white, wooden duck that always seemed to be in the way. But now that Gemma has transformed it into this proud, happy drake, we can't stop admiring it.
Gemma kept us informed of the progress and agreed our options with us before every step. Pictures of the work in progress kept us fully informed and excited.
Thank you, Gemma, for the fantastic work you did. The finished duck has pride of place now in our home and hearts.
Maria.
